Vodafone Egypt launches traffic SMS service
Vodafone Egypt has launched Wassalni Shokran, a new service offering customers traffic updates over SMS. By dialing *6#, customers will get a SMS notification on the traffic status of their preferred routes.
The service is available through any mobile device using USSD technology. The new service offers customers two options. The first is to check the traffic status from one area to another by selecting the starting and ending points of their journey.
The customer then also receives a SMS if the traffic status related to his inquiry changes within 30 minutes of his request. The second option is to inquire about a specific road whereby customers can choose to receive automatic traffic updates at a specific time every day.
The service is launched in collaboration with Bey2ollak.com, a traffic information provider in Egypt used by more than 300,000 customers to navigate major roads in Cairo and Alexandria. The Wasalny Shokran service costs EGP 0.30 per inquiry after the promotional period.
