Samsung launches Entaleq 2014
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, the global technology leader, recently announced the launch of the “Entaleq 2 2014” initiative, where all Samsung Developer members and college students will be offered the chance to compete from the 1st of April 2014 till announcing the winners by mid October 2014. During this period, participants will be able to submit as many applications as they wish. The giant Korean company will shed more focus on college students, initiating campaigns all over Egypt covering most of the universities. The Entaleq 2 2014 challenge will recognize the best 10 mobile application developers as well as 5 Smart TV application developers, with a total amount of cash rewards of EGP 300,000 in addition to a variety of Samsung products.
Samsung is planning to maintain a nation-wide program that will help identify promising developers and offer them the opportunity to improve their skills and better start their career. All the winners in the mobile applications category will have the chance to join the ‘Samsung Partnership Program’; where their applications will be marketed through Samsung allowing them to benefit from Samsung's global expertise. In addition to attending workshops organized by Samsung and ITI, Samsung will also offer the top three winners in the mobile and Smart TV applications categories the opportunity to attend the Samsung International Developer Day. The Entaleq 2 2014 challenge is just the latest in a long line of initiatives that Samsung has undertaken to enhance the technical and entrepreneurial skills of the local application developers.
“As of October 2013 the Number of mobile subscribers in Egypt has reached 79.9 million , while mobile internet users have reached 14.4% of the total number of mobile subscribers .Samsung believes in the potential of the Egyptian youth in the application development field which is why we launched the Samsung Developers Day in 2012 and Entaleq initiative in 2013. Therefore, we decided to build upon the progress that we have reached by creating a sustainable project that will allow more promising developers to enhance their skills,” said Seuong-ho Yun, Managing Director of Samsung Egypt. “At Samsung, we realize that one of the best ways to sustain our position as a leader in the applications market is through investing and believing in talented developers.”
Samsung Entaleq 2013 initiative greatly supported the ICT sector by providing the community with well-trained and promising developers. As such, Samsung decided to embark on the Entaleq 2 2014 initiative, offering developers and young students an unprecedented opportunity to get their ideas across to the international market. Samsung's initiatives are expected to significantly support the growth of this sector.
“Over the past year, Egypt has seen an increase of almost 27.6% in the number of mobile internet users reaching over 13.8 million users ; which highlights the market’s great potential. Samsung is committed to the Egyptian market always taking the lead in investing in the local community,” said Sherif Barakat, Head of HHP Division at Samsung Egypt. “Entaleq 2 2014 initiative will provide talented developers and young students the chance to improve their skills and reach their full potential.”
The top developers will be chosen based on a set of criteria; including initial number of downloads usability, design, uniqueness, and purpose. Most of all, the entries are required to be user friendly and to serve existing needs to the users.
