Alexandria ranks 3rd in quality of life in Africa
Alexandria and Cairo made it to the top 10 cities in quality of life in Africa. A research by The Federal institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland ranked the biggest African cities based on housing, Spatial development, infrastructure, environment/ecology, governance and economy.
On top of the list came Marrakech in Morocco, the city is undergoing a development program orchestrated by King Mohamed VI through which Marrakech will be “the city of permanent renewal”.
In second place was Johannesburg, the capital of South Africa. Third came Alexandria followed by Port Louis the capital of Mauritius, then Morocco’s Casablanca!
Tunis came at number six, followed by Cairo, then Rabat and at 11th place came Algiers. Some sub-Saharan major cities made it to the top 30, however the dominance of North African countries, especially Meghreb is evident.
Out of the top ten, four Moroccan cities came in the list, Rabat, Marrakech, Fez and Casablanca.
