Egypt to test producing electric cars
This June, Egypt will start technical testing in preparations to produce Egyptian electric vehicles.
The Vehicles will be manufactured in state-owned Nasr Automotive Manufacturing company in cooperation with Dongfeng Motor Industry Import and Export Company from China.
Minister of Public Business Sector Hisham Tawfik stated that it is time for Egypt to join the global development towards electric battery powered vehicles.
He added that the technical tests stage is expected to last for 3 months. The first vehicles should be ready by mid-2022 then the production capacity should be around 25,000 annually.
The charging units will be added to gas stations across Egypt, currently there are 75 available and the goal is to have 3000 by the time the cars are ready.
