Egypt taxes bloggers and Youtubers

The Egyptian Tax Authority asked content creators and influencers to register and open tax files at their local authority in order to record their income.

Content creators who made/make EGP 500,000 annually will be obliged to add VAT (value added tax) to their tax files. The tax will be applied on the whole duration of their online business.

It is also stated that businesses who sell products o social media have to register and apply VAT since the date of beginning their online sales. The tax authority is taking it with Facebook and YouTube also to apply VAT to the online content by celebrities, influencers and bloggers in Egypt.
