Arby’s adding 50 restaurants in Egypt
An Atlanta fast-food brand is expanding in the Middle East. Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc. has signed a development agreement to bring 50 restaurants to Egypt. The franchisee, Vantage Egypt for Tourism and Entertainment, plans to begin opening the locations in 2018. The deal expands Arby’s footprint in the Middle East. It’s also opening locations in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia through another franchisee, Kharafi Global. Vantage Egypt owner Mohamed Halawa said in a statement, “We are very determined to make Arby’s one of the most successful restaurant concepts in the Egyptian market.” The company owns and operates other American-branded restaurants in Egypt including Papa John’s Pizza. Founded in 1964, Arby’s today has more than 3,300 restaurants in seven countries.
