Sweilam, El-Said discuss current investment plan of Irrigation Ministry
Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Sweilam, met with the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Said, to review the executive position of the investment plan of the Irrigation Ministry for the current fiscal year 2022/2023, with an estimated budget of about EGP 16.20 bn.
The meeting also discussed the ministry’s plan proposal for the next fiscal year 2023/2024.
During the meeting, Sweilam said that the water sector comes at the top of the Egyptian state’s interests, noting that many major water projects are currently being implemented in various governorates.
He added that the national projects currently being implemented in the field of water aim to serve the water system, maximise the return from the water unit, and serve the beneficiaries, especially farmers, which drives us to continue working hard to help this system in a way that is reflected in raising the standard of living of farmers.
Moreover, El-Said stressed the importance of the water security file, as it is one of the essential international goals for sustainable development, which is compatible with the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030, and a large number of officials in ministries have been trained to ensure that investment plans are drawn up in line with international goals and take into account environmental sustainability.
