Egypt launches 1st locally manufactured E-vehicle
Yasmine Fouad, Egyptian Minister of the Environment witnessed the inauguration of the first fully electric vehicle by the Abou Ghaly Motors, in the presence of Rania Al Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry.
Fouad indicated, according to a press release issued on Thursday that the launch of the first electric car in Egypt appears to be a simple event, but it represents an important step as one of the most important paths to green sustainable transformation.
She added that the sustainable transport initiative that was launched to the world during the conference on the Day of Solutions targets all types of sustainable transport, starting from bicycles to electric buses, to the metro line, the electric train, and electric and natural gas cars.
The Minister of the Environment emphasized that the partnership between the government and the private sector represented a symphony that caught the attention of the whole world during the COP27 climate conference, and a real transformation took place in all means of transport, including electric transport buses, which were implemented and reached 260 buses in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, which served 51,000 participants for 18 days.
She alluded to a number of important environmental and economic figures that the state made during the last period, noting that the transport sector worldwide is responsible for about 24% of global emissions and about 26% for pollution with solid particles with a diameter of less than 10 micrometers.
