Egypt raises fees for triptik vehicles
The triptik is customs traffic document issued to vehicles that will stay for a short time in the country that exempts it from normal customs and taxes.
The new fees have been set at $100 for the first three months up from EGP 500 (around $16.34), and $175 for the next three months up from EGP 1000 (around $32.68).
The rule applies to Egyptian expats, foreigners and transients who plan to stay in Egypt for a maximum period of six months.
Those to want to extend their stay in the country will be required to pay 50 percent more for the triptik and gain approval from the minister of finance, Ghatori added.
Tourists convoys with vehicles that would stay in the country for a maximum of one month may also obtain a triptik at the cost of $50 per vehicle.
Also, foreign workers at government entities, including universities and schools, and in foreign companies can pay benefit from tripkik vehicles subject to a fee varying from $150 to $700 depending on the engine capacity and the length of stay.
