AMIC reveals automotive sales to be on the rise, climbing 43% MoM in May

The automotive sector saw a significant rise in sales during May 2023 month-on-month, with automotive distributors selling 43 percent more than in April 2023.

May 2023’s sales numbers reached 7.3 thousand, according to the latest data from the Automotive Marketing Information Council (AMIC).

Passenger car sales surged by 48 percent to register 5.7 thousand units in May compared to the previous month but were 51.8 percent lower when compared to May 2022. Bus sales recorded sales of 694 units, a 58 percent increase on a monthly basis but a decline of 61 percent when compared to May 2022.

Truck sales saw a slight increase in May compared to April, rising 12 percent month-on-month. On an annual basis, truck sales dropped 74 percent.
