UNDP signs MoU with Microsoft Egypt
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Egypt, represented by Alessandro Fracassetti, and Microsoft Egypt, led by General Manager Mirna Arif, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU aims at enabling joint cooperation in efforts to advance sustainable development and promote digital innovation within both entities. The Minister of International Cooperation Rania el Mashat, in a speech delivered through a video conference, mentioned that the MoU paves the way for a strategic partnership aiming to benefit from relevant specialized knowledge and resources. The collaboration aims to achieve common goals in fields like environmental sustainability, climate change, green tourism, agritech, food security, digital transformation, and capacity building. Focusing particularly on empowering women and girls and promoting sustainability, efforts will be made under the MoU to develop digital skills and improve future job market skills. Additionally, UNDP and Microsoft Egypt are planning to develop an early warning system capable of mitigating the impacts of climate change and severe weather events on Egypt. This cooperation also envisions promoting sustainable tourism within the country.
