Manufacturing, extractive industries index rises by 5.24% during October 2024

Driven by market demand, the tobacco products manufacturing index surged to 159.36 in October 2024, compared to 147.63 in the previous month.

The index for manufacturing and extractive industries (excluding crude oil and petroleum products) rose to 112.32 in October 2024 (preliminary), up from 106.73 in September 2024 (final), reflecting a 5.24 percent increase, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).


Driven by market demand, the tobacco products manufacturing index surged to 159.36 in October 2024, compared to 147.63 in the previous month, marking a 7.95 percent growth.


 Similarly, the paper and paper products manufacturing index climbed to 77.73 in October 2024 from 72.67 in September 2024, showing a 6.96 percent increase.


On the other hand, the textiles manufacturing index experienced a decline, falling to 170.20 in October 2024 from 185.42 in September 2024, a drop of 8.21 percent attributed to market conditions.


 Likewise, the leather and leather products manufacturing index decreased to 38.48 in October 2024, down from 43.93 in September 2024, reflecting a 12.41 percent decline, also driven by demand trends.
