Egypt population growth rate declined by 46% from 2017 to 2023
Population growth rate in Egypt declined by 46 percent from 2017 to 2023, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said stated on Thursday 28/3/2024.
In 2023, the population growth rate in Egypt declined by 1.4 percent, the lowest in the last 50 years, compared to the 2.6 percent recorded in 2017, the minister added, citing a report issued by the National Project for Egyptian Family Development (NPEFD).
According to the report, the birth rate in Egypt reached two million in 2023, a decline of 15 percent compared to 2018 and 7 percent compared to 2022.
The NPEFD, launched in 2022, is a comprehensive development project for improving life quality by focusing on social, demographic, cultural, and health-related aspects, including women's economic empowerment and health issues.
