Value of Egypt’s electronic payments, collections services reaches LE 2.5tn in 11 months
The Government Electronic Payment Gateway (GePG) of the Ministry of Finance has experienced growth in its operations from July 2023 to May 2024. The total value of services processed through GePG reached LE 2.5 trillion during this period, compared to LE 2.1 trillion in the previous fiscal year, according to a statement by Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait.
The electronic payment service for workers' salaries in the country saw a growth rate of 24 percent, amounting to LE 299.4 billion, as opposed to approximately LE 242.2 billion in the same period of the last fiscal year.
Minister Maait further highlighted that the value of the electronic payment service for suppliers increased by 14 percent to reach LE 1.1 trillion, compared to about LE 989.8 billion in the corresponding period last fiscal year.
In terms of customs electronic receipts, there was a growth of 38 percent, totaling LE 284.3 billion from July 2023 to May 2024, in contrast to about LE 205.8 billion during the same period in the last fiscal year.
