Private & International School Fees Rise by Up to 25% Across Egypt
A new decision by the Ministry of Education dictates that all private schools, and schools that follow an international education model, will be subject to various increases in school fees by up to 25%. The decision comes in reference to Ministerial Resolution number 174 of the year 2017, where clause 5 of Article 422 was amended, dictating the allocation of necessary funds to schools ahead of the academic year 2024/2025.
The increase is applied to schools at a rate dependent on school fees, where the most expensive schools see the smallest percentage increase.
For private schools, schools with fees less than EGP 5000 will increase by 25%, schools with fees between EGP 5000 and 10000 will increase 20%, while fees of EGP 10,000 to 15,000 will see an increase of 15%,. Meanwhile, fees of EGP 15,000 to 20,000 rise by 12%, fees of EGP 20,000 to 25,000 will rise by 10%, fees of EGP 25,000 to EGP 35,000 will rise by 7%, and fees above EGP 35,000 will receive an increase of 6%.
Meanwhile, international schools will see increases ranging from 5-10%, with school fees between EGP 30,000 and 50,000 seeing a 10% increase. Schools charging EGP 50,000 to 80,000 will see an 8% increase, EGP 80,000 to 120,000 will see a 7% increase, and EGP 120,000 to EGP 200,000 see a 6% increase. School fees that range over EGP 200,000 will see an increase of only 5%.
