Egypt's textile and garment export sector is on a growth trajectory, with projections indicating a surge to USD 1.4 billion by 2025, according to the Apparel Export Council of Egypt. The sector has shown momentum in recent years, with exports reaching USD 1.2 billion in 2023, marking a 5% growth from the previous year.

A key moment in this growth was the opening of the Destination Africa 2024 exhibition in Cairo, where the council shared its ambitious plans. The exhibition, held on November 16th and the 17th, featured 100 exhibitors, 30 of which were Egyptian companies - up from 20 last year.

The event, now in its 8th edition, attracted over 250 international buyers from key global markets, highlighting Egypt’s growing importance in the textile industry. Attendees included top officials like Minister of Investment Hassan El-Khatib and leaders from the Egyptian Exporters Association and Ready-made Garments Export Council. 75 international buyers from regions such as Europe, the US, and Africa - including Ghana, Kenya, and Algeria - were in attendance, underscoring Egypt’s increasing integration into global supply chains.

Destination Africa serves as Egypt's platform for B2B meetings, allowing exporters to connect with international buyers. It plays a vital role in expanding Egypt’s export reach and building lasting partnerships worldwide.

Looking ahead, the Apparel Export Council emphasised Egypt’s strategic advantages, such as its location, trade agreements, and reliable energy, as key factors for growth. The council is also focusing on strengthening ties with European and African markets to reach its ambitious targets and provide a strong foundation for future success.
