Swiss logistics giant MEDLOG to build new state-of-the-art dry port in Egypt
MEDLOG, the logistics arm of the Geneva-based global transport and logistics leader MSC Group, developed infrastructure for dry ports and logistics centres on the 10th of Ramadan, per a 30-year deal signed with the transport ministry's General Authority for Land and Dry Ports (GALDP) in August 2023.
The 10th of Ramadan industrial city, built in the 1970s, 10th is located in the eastern part of the Sharqiya governorate on the Cairo–Ismailia desert highway, 46km from Cairo and 20 km (12 mi) from the Bilbeis.
"MEDLOG, one of the world’s geographically widest logistics and supply chain operators, continuously invests in proprietary assets, such as inland logistics platforms, warehouses, trucks, locomotives and barges. With a presence in more than 80 countries, MEDLOG guarantees tailored, door-to-door solutions and large, off-dock storage facilities supported by expert teams," explains the company's website.
In recent years, Egypt has constructed 22 dry ports and logistic zones in various parts of the country, including in the 10th of Ramadan City. This is part of a broader initiative to build 33 dry ports and seven logistical corridors to transform Egypt into a regional hub for transport, logistics, and transit trade.
The transport ministry is constructing other dry ports in the industrial cities of 6 October, Sadat, New Damietta, New Fayoum, and Beni Suef.
Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir witnessed the signing of the new deal and explained that the construction of seven integrated logistics corridors would link industrial zones — manufacturing, agricultural, and mining— with seaports on the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.
