Egypt sends Economic Summit invitation to US

Egypt’s Investment Minister Ashraf Salman has invited the United States to attend an economic summit scheduled for Sharm el-Sheikh on March 13.
According to a ministry statement on Tuesday, the invitation was extended to large numbers of officials, noting that the summit is aiming to introduce Egypt to the whole world through a new economic perspective.

For his part, US ambassador Robert Stephen Beecroft assured Cairo that Washington is keen to tighten Egyptian-American economic relations and is looking for more cooperation at that level.

Minister Salman explained that the foreign direct investment indicators for his country have recently improved, reaching $1.8 billion during the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
