Egypt, EEU agree to create free trade zone
Egypt and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan have agreed to establish a free trade zone and to develop the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal region, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Cairo, BelTA has learned.
Apart from that, Russia and Egypt signed a number of documents, including on bilateral cooperation in nuclear power engineering. Attending the ceremony were Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
For example, Head of Rosatom Sergei Kiriyenko and Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker inked an agreement to implement the project to build a nuclear power plant in Egypt.
The agreement between Russia and Egypt in the field of nuclear power engineering not just provides for the construction of a nuclear plant, but actually creates a new branch of nuclear industry in the country, Vladimir Putin noted.
