Egypt's Labor Min. Seeks to Enhance Cooperation with EU
The Minister of Manpower received at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital a delegation from the European Commission in Cairo and the European Training Foundation (ETF) - European Union to discuss ways of joint cooperation in updating the occupational classification guide in line with the changes in the labor market and future professions.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in the fields of vocational training and developing the skills of Egyptian youth and qualifying them for the local and international labor market according to international standards, which contributes to supporting job opportunities and employment.
The Minister welcomed this cooperation, stressing his aspiration to achieve tangible results on the ground in line with the directions of the new republic and the directives of the President.
The Minister of Manpower reviewed the Ministry's efforts to develop the vocational training system in cooperation with the private sector and local and international partners, noting that the Ministry has fixed and mobile vocational training centers that serve the state's goals in qualifying the Egyptian worker to be skilled and trained according to the needs of the external labor market.
The Minister also stressed the Ministry's readiness to provide trained workers using modern methods and aware of their rights and duties.
The European Union representatives praised Egypt's efforts in the fields of vocational and technical training, especially the "Training for Employment" policy.
They also stressed their keenness to enhance cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Labor due to its capabilities in this field, pointing to the importance of the "National Employment Strategy" that the Ministry is working to issue in cooperation with its partners as a tool for understanding the local and international labor market and ways to deal with it.
Representatives of the European Commission and the European Training Foundation participated in the meeting, along with a number of leaders of the Ministry of Labor, including the Minister's Legal Advisor, the Head of the Central Administration for International Relations, and the Director of Vocational Training Follow-up.
