Port Said harbor ranked 16 among top 20 performing container ports
The Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) announced that Port Said was ranked 16 among the top 20 performing container ports in 2023 in accordance with the global Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) issued by the World Bank Group (WBG) and the S&P Global Market Intelligence unit in June.
The announcement came in a report released by the IDSC under the title “Maritime Trade Gateways at the Heart of the Global Strategy,” which addressed the economic importance of ports.
Egypt’s performance on trade logistics put it at 57th position globally out of 139 countries included in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index for 2023, the report showed.
This improvement in the Logistics Performance Index is attributed to the significant development in the logistics sector in recent years backed by the Egyptian government’s plan for transforming the country into a global hub for trade and logistics.
Egypt came in 23rd place in the UNCTAD’s Liner Shipping Connectivity Index in the second quarter of 2024, compared to the first quarter of 2024, where Egypt was ranked 24th position, the report stated.
